There are absolutely loads of Muay Thai training camps in Thailand, yet they are by no means equal in terms of training quality, reliability and creature comforts. Before you get carried away and pick the first camp you find that says “run by a champion”, you have to remember that the majority of Muay Thai camps in Thailand boast a champion owner or trainer. This isn’t a lie, it is just that historically belts have changed hands faster than Singha beer bottles, and on the islands of Samui and Phuket in particular, it seems everyone has been “Southern” or “Northern” champion at one time or another. Also consider that just because a camp has a champion in the wings, doesn’t mean the camp is a great place to train, stay, or generally enjoy the best Muay Thai experience.
