A former Big Brother contestant’s transformation from reality TV nobody to one of the stars of women’s boxing will continue next month when she takes a shot at a world-title belt.

Angel McKenzie, who appeared in series 10 of Big Bro in 2009, will go toe to toe with Germany’s Jennifer Retzke for the IBO light middleweight title at York Hall in east London on July 5.

McKenzie, who, not content with her pugilistic pursuits, also counts herself as a singer and an artist, is a late replacement on the bill for Swede Mikaela Lauren, who has pulled out of the bout.

And Russia-born Londoner McKenzie admitted she’s likely to be in for a tougher task then ever she faced in the BB house when she steps into the ring in Bethnal Green.

‘Jennifer is one of the top boxers in the world, she’s ranked No.1 with the IBF, so it will be a hard fight, but I’m used to hard fights,’ said the 40-year-old, who was the fourth person to be evicted from the Big Brother house in a series eventually won by Sophie Reade.

‘I’ve fought world champions before – in fact, I fought most of the top girls in my career, but usually in their own country. For once I will have the advantage of fighting in front of my home fans.’
