1Hour Grappling Challenge II . Grappling . GroundandPound
Submission only.

About Girls in Gis
The purpose of Girls in Gis is to create a community of girls and women who train Brazilian jiu-jitsu and provide a fun, friendly environment for training. Because BJJ is based on leverage and technique it is designed perfectly for women who are usually smaller, and weaker than their opponent. But the number of women who train BJJ is still very small compared to the number of men that train. Most schools still only have a handful of women that train consistently which really limits the number of women training partners we have. By coming together from all schools we can train, learn and grow the sport for women everywhere.http://girls-in-gis.com/about/

Käfiggeflüster.de: Eventcheck: No Compromises FC
Originaltext:
Kyra Gracie: “Teaching Jiu-Jitsu To Kids At My Social Project Is My Priority In Life.”
Originaltext:
During Christmas 2007, Kyra Gracie, started a social action, visiting the Santa Clara Family in Vargem Grande, taking donations for the children, along with her oncle Ryan Gracie. The following year, after the death of her uncle, the BJJ black belt took the idea further and founded the Institute Kapacidade, which currently serves 120 children.
The 3x BJJ world champion has many occupations, but says that that what goes in in the centre is a priority.
“I see kids competing and making major improvements in their lives. There are improvements in behavior, socializing in school, as well as the relationship with parents. The goal is not to have a world champion but a citizen with the ability to change their fate. ”

Big Brother contestant to fight for world boxing title - Angel McKenzie vs Jennifer Retzke Frauenboxen
Orignaltext:
A former Big Brother contestant’s transformation from reality TV nobody to one of the stars of women’s boxing will continue next month when she takes a shot at a world-title belt.
Angel McKenzie, who appeared in series 10 of Big Bro in 2009, will go toe to toe with Germany’s Jennifer Retzke for the IBO light middleweight title at York Hall in east London on July 5.
McKenzie, who, not content with her pugilistic pursuits, also counts herself as a singer and an artist, is a late replacement on the bill for Swede Mikaela Lauren, who has pulled out of the bout.
And Russia-born Londoner McKenzie admitted she’s likely to be in for a tougher task then ever she faced in the BB house when she steps into the ring in Bethnal Green.
‘Jennifer is one of the top boxers in the world, she’s ranked No.1 with the IBF, so it will be a hard fight, but I’m used to hard fights,’ said the 40-year-old, who was the fourth person to be evicted from the Big Brother house in a series eventually won by Sophie Reade.
‘I’ve fought world champions before – in fact, I fought most of the top girls in my career, but usually in their own country. For once I will have the advantage of fighting in front of my home fans.’

Fight Football - Calcio Storico / Mix of Football, Soccer and MMA
Originaltext:
It's called 'Calcio Storico Fiorentino' and it features boxers, soccer players, and MMA fighters all duking it out in the sand while attempting to simultaneously play what appears to be a friendly game of rugby. It's also important to note that nothing about this seems safe. In fact, it's the exact opposite of safe -- if there was a word that implied more danger than 'dangerous,' it would be used in this case.
The object of the game appears to be to get the ball to the other side of the field without getting your cranium smashed in by someone's fist. Judging by the crowd of this new sport (which is exclusive to Italy), it's on its way to becoming the greatest way to unintentionally lose all your teeth while wearing coordinated outfits. Sorry hockey.
Just a few days ago in Calcio Storico 2013, teams 'Verdi' and 'Azzurri' had a pretty confusing, but entertaining match that involved more than a few soccer kicks in every sense of the phrase. Check out the entire match below and if you want to know more about this new Italian 'Fight Soccer' craze, check out our bud's website at Grappling-Italia.com.

Neue Gegnerin für Dilara Kocak - Genesis Respectfc Sprockhövel
Originaltext:
Eigentlich sollten beide bereits 2012 in Rotterdam aufeinandertreffen.

also gleich 6 Titel in zwei Gewichtsklassen halten. More kickfighter-magazin.de |

The Rise of WMMA - Female Fighters make a splash at UFC
The Rise of WMMA
Originaltext:
Ronda Rousey, Miesha Tate, Julie Kedzie, Gina Carano, Liz Carmouche, Felice Herrig, Cris Cyborg, Marloes Coenen – these are just a few of the names of some of the best fighters in the world. Thanks to Strikeforce, EliteXC, Invicta FC and now the UFC, these fighters are finally starting to get the attention they deserve. As MMA fans we knew the time would come when these women would get their moment to shine, and that time is now.
Just a year and a half ago it seemed that WMMA fighters would be relegated to small time promotions competing for crumbs.
Dana White, president of the UFC, famously stated that women will “never” be in the UFC. Now we have women becoming household names with big time sponsors fighting for promoters that actually respect the skills, hard work, dedication and integrity that these fighters bring to the cage/ring.The first WMMA fighters to headline a major promotion’s card were Gina Carano and Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino, (Cristiane Santos at the time). This fight was an epic moment in WMMA. These two female fighters were showcased above some great names and well respected male MMA fighters. On that night guys like Gilbert Melendez, Gegard Mousasi, Fabricio Werdum and Renato Sobral were second fiddle to the women and they did not disappoint. “Cyborg” went on to win the Strikeforce women’s title by way of TKO.

Sandbagging In BJJ
So there you are, at your first tournament. You’re still a white belt, but lot of sweat, and even some blood, have gone into getting those 3 stripes. Encouraged by your instructor and team, you have decided that you are ready to put your burgeoning skills to the test. You want to represent well and bring honor to yourself, your family, and your academy. You also want to continue to learn and grow as a practitioner of BJJ.
You step out onto the mats for your first match and see your opponent across from you, a white belt like yourself, but with no stripes. You’re nervous as can be, but confident. The match begins. He came at you like a freight train, scoring a quick take down with one of the smoothest and irresistible double-legs you had ever experienced. Definitely better than any white belt you’ve ever sparred against.
You try to compose yourself and get him into your guard, but again, he a more than a few steps ahead of you, strong, quick, smashing and passing your guard like it was nothing. The next thing you know you are in extreme pain and find yourself involuntarily tapping out. It happened so fast you didn’t even have time to react or defend yourself. You learn later that it had been a kimura from side-control. The tournament is over for you in a mere matter of seconds. Things clearly didn’t go at all how you thought it would go.

Georges St-Pierre and the 10 Most Disciplined Strikers in MMA Today / Joanne Calderwood
Originaltext:
If you didn't recognize Dennis Siver's name, then you certainly will not know Joanne Calderwood. She is, quite frankly, one of the most disciplined strikers in the game today.
Calderwood's looping-counter jab, devastating knees to the midsection, and step-in uppercutting elbow (a la Anderson Silva) are just a tiny fraction of what she throws in a given fight. Each strike is delivered with a cold precision that is italicized by the brutality with which it lands.

Rousey a rousing success so far
Originaltext:
Last August, Ronda Rousey was already making noise in the MMA world, but to the mainstream, she was virtually unknown. Since then, she has become the first female to be signed by the UFC, be crowned champion and defend her title. She has become one of the most famous female athletes worldwide.
I caught up with Rousey in Las Vegas on Monday evening, in between filming sessions of “The Ultimate Fighter 18,” which will begin to air in the fall, with Rousey coaching opposite Meisha Tate. Here’s a bit of our conversation.

Kickfighter - Frau Wagenhuber setzt sich zru Wehr
Originaltext:

From the Experts: How to Attract and Retain Women in BJJ | Breaking Muscle
A few weeks ago, my editor Becca told me that fellow Breaking Muscle contributor Sally Arsenault wondered if I’d be willing to write a story about how to attract women to BJJ and how to keep them there once they start.
I was a bit surprised by the request because I’ve been asked this question many times over the years, so I assumed numerous people had already written about it. After doing my own research, however, I discovered that there isn’t nearly as much “out there” as I had assumed. It will not be surprising to those of us who know her that Breaking Muscle favorite Krista Scott-Dixon collaborated with Stephan Kesting to write a useful and enlightening article on this very topic.

Female fighters want to open minds - Rosi Sexton
Originaltext:
Rosi Sexton is like any other working mother.
She worries about balancing a hectic work schedule with her desire for quality time with her son. She deals with homework, groceries and playdates. Like any busy mother, she's constantly doing a juggling act.
But there is one significant difference between Sexton, 35, and other moms in her neighborhood.
Her office is an octagon cage surrounded by thousands of screaming fans waiting for her to knock an opponent into submission.
Sexton, who has an 8-year-old son, is a mixed martial arts fighter, based out of Manchester, England, and Saturday she makes her UFC debut.
Sexton, who just happens to have a degree in mathematics from Cambridge, a Ph.D. in theoretical computer science and a degree in osteopathy, will take on Canadian fighter Alexis Davis, 28, who will also be making her debut, at UFC 161 in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
UFC has been around since the early 1990s, but women are a new addition to the family. Female fighters have been participating in MMA for years, but it wasn't until February that UFC held its first official women's match.

Women in UFC
For those unfamiliar with UFC, or Ultimate Fighting Championship, it is the largest mixed martial arts promotional company in the world. It hosts the best fighters in the sport and produces events that are seen worldwide.UFC has been around since the early 1990s, but women are a new addition to the family. -EXCLUSIVE- SEAN MAGHAMI TALKS DREAM TOURNAMENTS: DREAM, VISION, AND CHAMPION
Originaltext:
I first heard of Dream Tournaments after some training partners competed in their first BJJ Tournament. They were so happy to avoid the many plagues and troubles that they heard in other BJJ Tournaments. I would like to thank Sean for the opportunity for doing this interview with your busy schedule in tournament preparation.
BJJ Rants: What makes Dream Jiu Jitsu different from some tournaments such as IBJJF, NAGA, etc.?
SM:Dream Tournaments guarantee 3 matches. They are perfect for anyone who needs more experience, at any level. Vision Tournaments will award all 1st place winners a scholarship to compete anywhere they want. So if they want to compete in the Mundials, we’ll pay the entry fee for them. They earned it! Champion Tournaments are for the advanced competitors who have worked hard and probably don’t need another medal. In the Champion format, all winners receive nice money prizes!
BJJ Rants: Where do you see Dream Jiu Jitsu in the next five years?
SM:I’m trying to see it in the next few months haha. Off the top of my head, I would like to hold enough women’s tournaments to create world champions in the bigger events. There are so many incredible women I’ve met who train so passionately, California has a deep pool of talent. If just one of them became a black belt world champion and someone asked her how she became so good, it would be awesome if she said that she got most of her matches from Dream.

BJJ Rants: Can you share some of the events your hosting.
SM:I’m organizing a Dream event in North Hollywood on June 15, a Champion event on July 6 in Laguna Hills, and the first Vision event for women on July 28. It will all be up on the website www.dreamjiujitsu.com

BJJ Rants: How did you find BJJ?...
SM: I started BJJ while I was in college after watching PRIDE. I was immediately drawn to the aggression and strength of fighters and believed that my own life could use some of those qualities in my own life.
