Support the Movie - Kayla Harrison Help us tell Rusty’s amazing story!

In this video, Kayla Harrison makes her case for the crowd funding effort for the movie, Don't Call Me Sir, as well as the official website for the project at www.supportdontcallmesir.com Rusty Kanokogi was an amazing person and an inspiration for women around the globe. Though she never looked at herself as an individual standing up for women’s rights, Rusty was a true trailblazer. It is thanks to Rusty that women’s judo is a competitive sport and an Olympic event. Don’t Call Me Sir! is a movie about Rusty’s early life, her beginning in judo, and how she, then a single mother, had to disguise herself as a man to compete in the 1959 New York State Judo Championships – which she won! And how her medal was taken away from her when she admitted to being a girl. Rusty is in the movie portrayed by by Kayla Harrison, the 2012 Olympic Gold Medal Winner in judo, the first American, male or female, to be Olympic Judo Champion! We need your support to make this movie because as accomplished as Kayla is, Hollywood would prefer that a proven actress portrays Rusty.
